Kanter Yachts Awarded New Contract

The Government of Canada has announced that they have awarded Kanter Yachts with a $360,000 contract for two new hydrographic survey launches for the Department of Fisheries and Oceans.

"Our Government is pleased that this investment will benefit the shipbuilding industry and workers in St. Thomas," said Joe Preston, Member of Parliament for Elgin-Middlesex-London.

The new hydrographic launches will be 8 metres in length and they will be delivered by March, 2011.  They will replace existing boats that are nearing the end of their service life.  Based in Nova Scotia, they will be used  to support the science programs of Fisheries and Oceans Canada.

Family-owned and operated, Kanter Yachts has been in St. Thomas for over 30 years.  The company manufactures custom sail and power yachts, Canadian Coast Guard     patrol boats, barges and commercial vessels.
