Fanshawe College prides itself as a comprehensive, diverse and strong learning environment. With highly skilled faculty, superb student services, modern facilities, state-of-the-art technology and equipment, and 86 comprehensive, career-related programs, Fanshawe College offers an adventure in learning and knowledge. The path to learning varies from classrooms to labs on the Internet; through video conferencing; in lecture theatres, through self-study computer programs or on the job!

 

Through communities, business, industry, other educational institutions, governments and agencies, Fanshawe College has fostered a spirit of co-operation and partnership. The Fanshawe College St. Thomas/Elgin Campus was established in 1970 to serve the needs of the people of Elgin County. In January of 1997, the college completed construction of a new state-of-the-art campus incorporating the latest in computer-based learning, electronic controls, and computerized machining centres.

 

The campus offers many opportunities for adult and apprenticeship training, and for continuing and post-secondary education. Programs are available in such fields as machining trades, industrial, maintenance, quality assurance, electronics, business, theatre arts, and health.

The University of Western Ontario is a vibrant centre of learning with approximately 1,250 faculty members and more than 24,000 undergraduate and graduate students. Through its 12 Faculties and Schools and three affiliated Colleges, the University offers more than 50 different degrees and diplomas.

 

Research is an integral part of the University's mission and external support for research projects totals approximately $80 million a year. More than 2,000 research projects are currently in progress at Western. Founded in 1878, the University is located on 155 hectares of land along the banks of the Thames River in London, Ontario. Western has six major libraries with more than 6 million books and microforms. Together they constitute one of the largest research library systems in Canada.

 

The University is home to the National Research Council’s Integrated Manufacturing Technology Institute, a facility established for the research and development of advanced manufacturing technologies.
